Chora Sfakion Tour 2024 is one of our new amazing offers for the 2023 summer season and a must-see for every south-Crete lover! It is combined with our Imbros Gorge Tour!

Chora Sfakion Tour 2024 starts with our bus picking up people from Kolimbari around 07:30 up to the center of Chania (see pickup points list/link). We arrive at around 09:30 at Imbros village where the people who will hike the Imbros Gorge are dropped off with the guide, and there you have half an hour time for optional coffee. Then, at 09:35 we leave for Chora Sfakion where we arrive at around 10:00.

You have 5 hours of free time to swim in Chora Sfakion’s crystal clear waters and taste local dishes and if you are a seafood lover, Chora Sfakion is the place to be!

While being in Chora Sfakion you have to try the famous sfakian pie (sfakiani pita)! It’s a local dish: handmade fried pie with cheese and honey!

If you do not want to stay in Chora Sfakion, there are speed boats at the port sailing several times a day to Loutro and Glyka Nera (sweet waters). You can go to both places in 15 minutes and discover the pure beauty of southern Crete! Just remember to check the boat departure timetable since you have to be back in Chora Sfakion by 15:30!!!! The first boat departs at 10:15!

In the meantime, people from the Imbros Gorge Tour will be in Chora Sfakion as well and all of you together will leave at around 15:30 to get back to your hotels.

CHORA SFAKION INFORMATION

Chora Sfakion or simply Sfakia is a small town on the south coast of Crete. It is the tourist center and the main port of the remote and mountainous province of Sfakia with about 300 inhabitants. It is located near the end of the Imbros Gorge, 74 km south of Chania.

It has two small ports, where the ferries of the line to Agia Roumeli dock, from which the hikers of the Samaria Gorge arrive in summer to take the bus back. The same boat also passes through the picturesque Loutro and continues to the island of Gavdos, Paleochora, and Sougia.

Chora Sfakion is a small village with a few taverns, a mini market, a butcher’s shop, and a bakery. In Chora Sfakion there are also basic facilities such as a petrol station, post office, pharmacy, police station, health center, and cash dispenser (ATM). There are also taxis and a daily bus service to Chania.

There is a quiet beach, called Vrisi, on the west of the village, and many pebble beaches around the area. The town offers a variety of tourist accommodations: rooms, studios, and apartments. The local economy is based on tourism, fishing, olive oil production, and sheep and goat breeding.

USEFUL TIPS

1. You need a high protection suncream, in the south Crete it is even warmer than the north!
2. Do not forget to have a sfakian pie!
3. The price for a speed boat to Glyka Nera and Loutro costs 13 euros both ways!

• Akrotiri Peninsula: Kounoupidiana, Kalathas, Stavros and etc. –  this tour is not avaiblable with pickup from Akrotiri. If you can get to Chania Center you can join ! 😉
