Elafonisi information

Elafonisi is a small island about 200 meters offshore, in west Crete, 75 km southwest of Chania. Between the island and the shore, there is a shallow lagoon, a natural pool about 1 meter deep. The color of the sea around the island is crystal clear turquoise. The sand is white and pink and while being there you feel like you are at an exotic paradise place of spectacular beauty! It is one of the best beaches in the world with thousands of visitors every day.

Elafonisi island is a protected area from Natura where you can also find white lilies, cedar trees, and rare species of birds and animals. At Elafonisi beach you will find canteens with fast food and cold drinks, umbrellas and sunbeds, chemical toilets, showers, lifeguards, and water sports activities. Also, kiosks selling traditional products, the beach staff, and handmade jewelry.

USEFUL TIPS

1. At Elafonisi beach there are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, canteens with fast food and cold drinks, chemical toilets and showers, water sports kiosks, a traditional products kiosk and a mini market.
2. If you walk to the island of Elafonisi make sure you have water and sun cream. There are no umbrellas or kiosks at the island.
3. Make sure you use high-protection sun cream and a hat.
