On this unique off-road expedition, we will explore Lake Kournas, the charming village of Kournas, the lush Agios Ioannis Azilakas Forest, the stunning Argyroupoli Springs, the impressive Moundros Gorge, the village of Asigonia, for an authentic Cretan lunch, the breathtaking Kotsifou Gorge, the exotic Preveli Beach and Palm Forest, and finally, the majestic Kourtaliotiko Gorge for a last panoramic stop before heading back.

Places We Will Visit:

Start at 9:00 from Lake Kournas, the only natural freshwater lake in Crete
Drive through the village of Kournas and follow an off-road route through the Agios Ioannis Azilakas Forest, also known as the famous Azilakas trail
Stop at the Argyroupoli Springs, famous for their crystal-clear waters, nestled under an ancient plane tree that provides natural shade and coolness – 30 minutes to relax and take photos
Continue through the Moundros Gorge, stopping at a natural spring for rest and breathtaking photo opportunities
Enjoy a traditional Cretan lunch at a local taverna in a village, where you will savor authentic Cretan flavors in a warm and welcoming setting
Drive through the Kotsifou Gorge, admiring the stunning views of the Libyan Sea, before reaching the Preveli Palm Forest
Spend 1 hour and 45 minutes at the stunning Preveli Beach, where the river meets the sea, creating a unique tropical landscape with palm trees. To reach the beach, there is a walking trail. Those who cannot walk the trail for health reasons can enjoy swimming at the spot where we stop with our vehicles
On the way back, stop at Kourtaliotiko Gorge for approximately 15 minutes to take in the breathtaking scenery
Before returning to the hotel, we stop at the “Three Monasteries,” a scenic spot with a panoramic view of Rethymno, perfect for capturing stunning photos
Here, a small surprise awaits you with local treats, offering you a taste of authentic Crete!
