Samaria gorge tour every day starts from Kolymbari at 05:15 am! We pick up everyone and arrive in Omalos for a small breakfast at 07:40. At 08:15, you start hiking the gorge! Arrival back home is at the same time as the  SAMARIA HAPPY HOUR. The difference between these two tours is that the Happy hour version starts 1 hour later, offering the same program and the same experience to the participants!

Samaria Gorge information:

The Samaria gorge is in southwest Crete in the regional unit of Chania. It was created by a small river running through the White Mountains. The gorge is 16 km long, starting at an altitude of 1,250 m at the northern entrance, and ending at the shores of Southern Crete and the Libyan Sea. The walk through Samaria National Park is 13 km long, but you need to walk 3 km extra to reach Agia Roumeli from the park exit, or just get on the available mini bus and skip these 3km walking, by just paying 2 euros!

USEFUL TIPS

1. You need comfortable shoes to walk the gorge. Make sure they are not brand new, so they fit you well while hiking.
2. You can buy food and drinks from the tavern in Omalos. After the gorge, you can buy anything you need in Agia Roumeli.
3. In the gorge, you can refill your bottle with water from the natural springs.
4. In the gorge, there are rest areas, smoking areas, and toilet facilities (take a look at the gorge’s map available at number 10).
5. Do not forget to bring your beachwear so you can swim in Agia Roumeli’s peaceful beach.
6. You have to walk 13km through the gorge, but in the end, you can skip the last 3km by taking the minibus from the national park exit leading to Agia Roumeli.
7. Make sure you carry only the necessary items so you avoid the extra weight.
8. Make sure you use high-protection sun cream and a hat.
