Imbros gorge tour starts from Kolymbari at 08:35, picking up everyone from the main road and arriving at the entrance of the gorge at 10:30. There you stop for a small breakfast and around 11:00 you start hiking the gorge after you pay a 2,5€ entrance fee. Imbros gorge is much easier than Samaria. Hiking lasts 2 to 3 hours and can be easily walked by children as well! Most of the hiking is under shade and the gorge is open all year round! That means gorge hiking lovers can walk Imbros gorge when Samaria is closed (end of October up to early May).
Imbros gorge information
Imbros Gorge is located in province Sfakia and is the third most visited gorge in Crete, following Samaria Gorge and Agia Irini, all belonging to the E4 European hiking path. The scenery is beautiful and the low difficulty makes the descent of Imbros ideal for families with children. The length of the gorge is 11 km and the course lasts 2-3 hours.
